Prodigal Son (J.Moossa)

Well I’ve saved and squandered stole and laundered
More than my fair share
And I’ve lied and cheated, got a bit overheated at
The way that things can sometimes be
And on the day of reckoning
Well I reckon what’s fair is fair

I’ve prayed and preyed upon pondered right and wrong
But nothing’s that cut and dry
And I’ve given up all I got except what you gave me
My roof is the open sky
And Joseph fishes off the Gulf of Maine
Except when its too windy, he don’t seem to mind the rain
And on the day of reckoning
Well I reckon what’s fair is fair

Moses was a biblical man, he took his people to the promised land
He parted the Red Sea, or should I say, God did, led them on thru
He was the captain of the chosen few
And he went up that mountainside
Just to bring those tablets on down
You know I’ve been known to throw a stone or two myself

And don’t overlook the fact that we’re barely holding on
Just like that we could be gone

Well I’m not saying there’s any similarity between a
Man like Moses and a man like me
But I’ve been told I make a pretty good prodigal son
So look out mama cause here I come
Who’s that coming up around the bend
Old brother John’s coming back again
And Joseph fishes off the Gulf of Maine
’cept When its too windy he don’t seem to mind the rain
On the day of reckoning well I reckon what’s fair is fair
