scott lewis- drums and percussion
Scott's musical career started at the tender age of 4 with classical piano. After a
grueling yet satisfiying 8 years of recitals and competitions, Scott turned to his
true love of drums and percussion. Since that time, Scott has done a variety of
different projects from Bluegrass percussion to hip-hop drum grooves. He has
played in groups such as Karmaru, Five Spot, and Pop Culture Casualties.
Scott was introduced to Moose back in 2000 and became an avid fan of his
music. Occasionally sitting in on percussion with Moose's old group, Scott
developed an ear for the catchy phrases and melodies that Moose was utilizing
in his music. Scott joined the group in late 2001 and hasn't looked back since.
Scott's musical influences include but are not limited to: Miles Davis, Motown, the
Dead, Marley, Steely Dan, Sting, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Jimi Hendrix,
James Brown, Frank Zappa, and anything else that catches his ear. Scott's
drumming influences include Buddy Rich, Vinnie Colaiuta, Manu Katche, Dennis
Chambers, Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Zigaboo Modeliste, Tommy
Igoe, Horacio Hernandez, and many, many others.
Scott plays Sonor drums, Pearl snare drums and hardware and uses Zildjian,
Paiste, and Sabian cymbals.
